I found a letter that thanh had written me a few weeks after we moved into our second house . . . it was around july 2002 . . . he is a big BULLET-er . . .
-bullet: we have been married 10 years
-bullet: we have raised a beautiful and smart little boy
-bullet: we have owned 2 houses, both before we were 30, (just missed my birthday by a few months)
-bullet: we STAYED married for 10 years and beat all of the odds
and yada yada yada . . .
it was sweet nonetheless and encouraging, considering we had so many rocky years. he ended it very eloquently . . . a quote from a Robert Browning poem (the title eludes me now) . . . “grow old with me, the best is yet to be. . .”
~unfulfilled promises~
it was very unlike thanh to write that way, but it was hopeful and calming and sweet. it makes me sad to see how unraveled our lives have become in such a short period of time . . . we both loved this house. from the first moment we opened the front door and fell for the openness of the living room and kitchen. we did love to cook together so often–i miss that a lot.
so . . it’s time to bid adieu.
